Trump Considers Selling F-35 Jets to Saudi Arabia
"I will say that we will be doing that. We’ll be selling F-35s," Trump told reporters when questioned about the potential transfer of the advanced fighter jets to Riyadh.
Trump mentioned on Friday that Saudi Arabia has expressed significant interest in acquiring the sophisticated aircraft manufactured by Lockheed Martin. "They wanna buy a lot of jets," he said.
"They’ve asked me to look at it. They want to buy a lot of ‘35,’ but they want to buy actually more than that fighter jets."
These statements came as multiple US news outlets suggested that Trump is leaning toward endorsing the sale.
A media outlet, citing a government official, reported that Trump and the crown prince are likely to finalize a deal allowing Saudi Arabia to acquire the F-35s during the visit, along with other economic and defense agreements, including a liquefied natural gas arrangement.
