Almost Two Hundred Insurgents Get killed in Crackdown in Pakistan
The crackdown was launched on Sunday in response to assaults by the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) across multiple sites in Balochistan, the southwestern province bordering Iran and Afghanistan. The attacks, which began early Saturday, killed at least 31 civilians—including five women—as well as 17 security personnel, reports indicate.
Authorities described the operation as the most lethal in decades against militant forces. “Security forces, police, and intelligence agencies thwarted the nefarious intentions of terrorists by taking timely and effective action,” Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said in a statement.
Pakistan’s government and military have accused India of supporting the BLA, a claim New Delhi has strongly denied. “We categorically reject the baseless allegations made by Pakistan, which are nothing but its usual tactics to deflect attention from its own internal failings,” said Indian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal.
