The discussion comes amid heightened tensions following a joint US-Israeli attack on Iran on Feb. 28, which, according to Iranian authorities, has resulted in over 1,300 deaths, including Iran’s former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, more than 150 schoolgirls, and senior military officials. Tehran has since retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israeli cities and locations hosting US military forces in the region.
