Saudi Arabia Condemns Iran's Strikes on Jordan, Bahrain, Kuwait
In a formal statement, the Saudi Foreign Ministry denounced the strikes against all three countries and reaffirmed the kingdom's firm rejection of any actions that undermine regional stability. Riyadh warned that further incursions on sovereign territory could dangerously inflame existing tensions across the region.
The kingdom called for immediate restraint, urging all parties to step back from escalation and prioritize diplomatic channels to resolve the deepening crisis. Saudi Arabia also backed the continuation of negotiations brokered by Pakistan and supported by Qatar, describing the talks as a critical pathway toward averting a return to open warfare. Resuming those diplomatic efforts, the statement noted, would help restore security and stability across the region while contributing to broader global peace.
The condemnation followed a dramatic announcement by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), which claimed early Thursday that it had struck 18 major US military targets — including positions at Ali Al Salem and Ahmad Al Jaber air bases in Kuwait, Sheikh Isa Air Base in Bahrain, and a base in Jordan housing American fighter jets.
The escalating exchange unfolded in the wake of US strikes on southern Iran, after which Tehran declared the closure of the Strait of Hormuz to maritime traffic — a move with sweeping implications for global energy supply chains.
